The NFPA Standard
NFPA 1962: Standard for the Care, Use, Inspection, Service Testing, and Replacement of Fire Hose, Couplings, Nozzles, and Fire Hose Appliances
Annual Inspection: Fire hoses must be un-racked, un-reeled, or un-rolled and inspected at least once a year. After inspection, hoses should be re-racked, re-reeled, or re-rolled in a way that prevents the folds from resting in the same position, helping to extend the life of the hose and prevent wear.
Hose Current: Confirm that the service test for the hose is current and meets safety standards.
Other Inspections: Inspect fire hoses and couplings for vandalism, debris, or signs of damage such as mildew, rot, burns, cuts, abrasions, chemical exposure, or pests.
